While the amount of ethanol produced per bushel has grown, this has happened. A bushel of corn now yields 15 per cent more ethanol than it did 20 years ago. What's the result? As the demand for Ethanol is increasing all over the world, India also needs to achieve optimum ethanol production to get paced with the growing industrial scenario. According to ICRA research, India's ethanol production needs to be increased three times its current level in order to meet the target of 20% ethanol blending by 2025. As per the conducted assessment, India's ethanol production in 2021 was roughly 335 crore litres. It resulted in around nine per cent ethanol blended into petrol.
India will need to attain an ethanol production target of 1,014 crore litres by 2025 to meet the E20 goal. According to the report, India will need to progressively increase its ethanol output if it continues on its current path. In July of last year, the Indian government announced a goal of blending 20% ethanol with gasoline by 2025. The government has also set a goal of gradually converting all automobiles to run on ethanol. The government has promoted the use of biofuels in India through the National Policy on Biofuels (NPB).
